Afton Cooper, a junior at Berthoud High in Colorado, was seventh in his section and ninth overall in the boys varsity small school race at the 16th Desert Twilight Festival by clocking 17:00.0 on the 5-kilometer layout at the Coyote Run Golf Course at Leisure World in Mesa, Ariz. Cooper helped Berthoud prevail by a 62-108 margin against Lutheran-Parker of Colorado.
